V. Committee Reports听
- Financial Committee with Clay Christian 听
- RLC
听
- requests $400 to screen Chocolat at Chocolate Extravaganza
(FinCom recommends to fund in
full)听
- Motion
to fund in full passes, no objections or abstentions听
- Spring Allocation Revisits听
- Westphalian
Society 听
- Came back to FinCom this
weekend with a reduced funding proposal of $2400 (FinCom recommends to fund in full with extreme reservations)听
- Caveats: Students going
to the conference must audit the class; they can鈥檛 take it for credit.
8 students will be funded, if less than 8 go, Westphalian Society will
have to pay back the money that would have been used.听
- 听We revisited the following
questions-Is this the right use of student activities funding? Is it
right to fund $300 of the student activity fund, would these students
be getting more out of the student activities fee than they put in?听
- Other discussion: will
Westphalian society be able to raise the money that we do not fund
them?听
- Motion
to fund for $2400听
- 4
votes to pass, 6 objections, 4 abstentions听
- Motion
fails to pass听
- Habitat
and Humanity 听
- FinCom asked Habitat to
come back with a more detailed proposal听
- FinCom
recommends to fund for $350 for gas for their builds for first semester
next year$310
for gas for next year for first semester听
- FinCom emphasized that
Habitat, and all other clubs need to be careful about their
discretionary proposals for next year, we will not be retroactively funding. 听
- Motion
to fund for $310 passes no objections or abstentions听
- Sword
Club 听
- Sword Club requested
FinCom to fund the material fees for to maintain their weapons. These
materials will be used to make weaponry that will be held by Sword club,
and will not be 鈥榳alk away鈥 items. 听
- FinCom treated Sword
Club like other club sports (Frisbee, Quidditch, Warrior Wranglers);
Senate will pay for some of the materials, but the club is also
responsible for providing some of their own materials. FinCom Recommends to fund for 戮 of
their request: $387.83听
- Motion
to fund for $387.83 passes, no objection or abstentions听
- Salaries听
- Profile:
FinCom recommends to fund in full as submitted听
- Troubador:
FinCom recommends to fund in full as submitted听
- 黑料不打烊
Bike Revolution: FinCom recommends to fund for $1000 per mechanic per
year (their own amended submission)听
- KHDX:
FinCom recommends to fund $800.00 per year to their Web Master, funding
for the other two non-Constitutional salaries were denied听
- There seems to be
overlap in the non-constitutional salaries.听
- Campus Kitty: FinCom Recommends
to decline funding for 2nd Vice Chair and Treasurer听
- FinCom was concerned that
funding more internal costs would take away from their non-profit
status.听
- ECC: FinCom recommends to
decline funding salaries for the new vice chair positions听
- Emily (ECC chair):
Worries that some of the programming won鈥檛 be as successful without more
paid positions (A LOT of work!) and that her job could become more
difficult because others have less of an incentive to work. Bottom line,
these are tough jobs, ECC provides great events, and they need creative
leadership.听
- FinCom believes these
positions need to run through a trial year before salaries can be
decided upon听
- FinCom was hesitant to
salary a position which has needed to be re-opened for filing.听
- General FinCom
discussion about salaries:听
- FinCom
spent A LOT of time discussing both spring allocations, as well as
salaried positions and after much debate came up with the above
recommendations. Many campus leadership positions require a lot of
work, but not all of them can be paid, it would be fiscally
irresponsible to devote so much of our student activity fees toward
salaries) All paid positions (constitutional and other) need to be
reviewed (some are overpaid some underpaid) and will be in the fall. 听
听听
- 听Committee on Everything Awesome with Dean Jim Wiltgen and Dr. Karla Carney-Hall听
- TOGA!听
- Last large event of the
year听
- Goal of 鈥榦pen cup鈥
events are to reduce binge drinking, if we abuse the open cup policy it
may have to be reviewed.听
- Bottom line the College
wants students to have fun, but, PLEASE be responsible, healthy and safe鈥
make good decisions!听

1000 of these cups are thrown away. The cups are recyclable but not
when they are dirty, so we will no longer be using them. 听
