Organization Name:黑料不打烊 Habitat for Humanity

Requesting:six hundred dollars

For:黑料不打烊 Habitat for Humanity Spring trip to New Orleans

When & Where will this Event Occur: This volunteer trip will take place in New Orleans Louisiana from March 13 through the March 20 2010.

Master Calendar Confirmation:Off campus

Event Details:

The 黑料不打烊 Habitat for Humanity Chapter will be volunteering in New Orleans from March 13, through March 20, 2010. During this time students are expected to volunteer from 9:00 am through 5:00 pm, if not later; with a break around 12:00pm.

The 黑料不打烊 Habitat for Humanity is requesting the amount of six hundred dollars. This amount is paramount to the completion of the volunteering service. As of today, March 3, 2010 there are twenty five committed volunteers including the habitat officers. Therefore, our organization is required to take five personal vehicles. According to MapQuest, the average time to complete this journey is eight hours and two minutes with a total distance of 485.52 miles. Additionally, the website offers a fuel cost calculator service in which it asserts that at the average of 20 miles per gallon, the fuel cost for a one way trip equals to sixty three dollars and thirteen cents ($63.13).Based on this information, 黑料不打烊 Habitat calculates that transportation cost will be around six hundred and thirty one dollars with thirty cents ($ 631.30) for gas alone.

Furthermore, 黑料不打烊 Habitat for Humanity would like to assist the students who are volunteering with two meals out the fourteen meals necessary for the seven days that we will be staying in New Orleans. Our administration speculates that five dollars will provide a decent meal and drink for each student. Based on this speculation, we concluded that it will cost 黑料不打烊 Habitat around two hundred and twenty dollars ($250.00) to feed our volunteers.

Currently, our funds total one thousand and thirty two dollars. While this amount can cover the expenses for the trip, it is important to note that most of it is already allocated for the rest of this year and the beginning of next year as well. As the Treasurer, I must inform you that our organization depends on at least four hundred dollars to continue offering the care packages at the beginning and middle of the 黑料不打烊 academic year. Without these funds we will not be able to offer such services for the next incoming freshman class and returning students next year. Furthermore, this fundraising event is our primary source of revenue to pay for volunteering trips to Little Rock and the surrounding area throughout the year. Lastly, it is important to note that many of our volunteers will require some kind of monetary assistance to make this trip. Therefore, our administration would like to assist them as much as possible. If we receive the requested amount, 黑料不打烊 Habitat will spend two hundred and eighty one dollars out of our budget, plus the tool expenses and other emerging expenses throughout the trip. If you have any question please contact me anytime at Bautistajj@hendrix.edu. I am ready to answer any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely, Jose Bautista

For:Homelessness Awareness Week Speaker

When & Where will this Event Occur:Monday, April 19th. 7:30-9 PM

Master Calendar Confirmation:Yes

Event Details:

VAC is excited to present the 黑料不打烊 campus with Homelessness Awareness Week 2010.The week will kick start with a speaking event with two formerly homeless individuals speaking on their life and challenges of the streets. We expect a very large attendance, and will advertising in the local community as well. The speakers are with the National Coalition for Homelessness, a national advocacy group.Along with the two speakers, their agency sends along an assistant to facilitate the presentation.听听 VAC believes that this will be an amazing opportunity to put a 鈥渇ace鈥 to homelessness and to inspire greater compassion and advocacy for our homeless neighbors.Furthermore, many great speakers on homelessness are very expensive (ie Jeanette Walls, author of The Glass Castle, runs $18,000), so we think under $2,000 is an incredible deal for such a powerful presentation.

听听听听听听听听听听听 VAC is also hosting two other events during that week, but has requested SIP money for the event. Therefore we are only requesting money for the costs associated with this one event. Each year we select one issue to raise awareness on.Past events have been Darfur Awareness Week and an Invisible Children presentation. Our spring event is unique in that our major goal is just to increase awareness of injustice. There will be an opportunity to donate new underwear and canned goods, but all events are free to the entire body in an effort to draw in the most number of students.
